In this unparalleled stretch of weather, expect to see shiny antique autos this weekend enhancing the blooming foliage. Or, if you wanted to see them all in one place, they’ll be parading down Main Street this afternoon at 1:30 in Littleton as part of The Littleton Lions Club’s 36th Annual Antique & Classic Car Show.
The show this year (for spectator viewing) is being held tomorrow, Sept. 24 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Hitchiner building parking lot on Beacon Street. I went to the show a few years ago, and those mint-condition antiques are a feast for the eyes; more works of art than cars.
They’ll also be clustered together today from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Blue Mountain Union Car Show, at BMU High School on Rt. 302 in Wells River. Proceeds from this show benefit the Blue Mountain Education Fund. At both events (Littleton and BMU), a donation at the door enables spectators to vote for their favorites. Do you remember what a 1977 Chrysler Imperial four-door looks like? That was my vote at the Littleton show. Gas mileage? Maybe 12 mpg max. Comfort, safety, and a feeling of ruling the road? In a big way.
