Lions Club Car Show brings car lovers to downtown Pineville

PINEVILLE – The Wyoming County Labor Day Celebration would not be complete without the annual Lion’s Club Car Show on Sunday afternoon.

Pete Stump, of Pineville, said the car show has been a part of the Labor Day festivities for over 60 years. The car show used to be held on the Pineville Football Field in years past, but more recently it has been held on Main Avenue in downtown Pineville.

“A lot of work goes into the car show,” said Jo Browning, whose husband, Lions Club President Robert Browning, has been organizing the show for “many years….He has been down here preparing since 6:30 a.m. this morning,” Jo Browning said on Sunday.

Classic car owner Charles Owens said he enjoys having a place to show off his hobby. On this day, he brought a car that he just purchased nine months ago.

Several people brought their precious vehicles out despite the rain early in the morning. There was something for everyone at the car show, from old classic antique cars to then new technologically advanced cars.
