It was a date with the old-world charm as motor enthusiasts of all ages thronged the Mall of Qatar to take a close look at the vintage classic cars on display.
Organised by Mawater Qatar in partnership with Qatar Motor Show, Letbelah and AlRayyan Hotel Doha, the Bespoke Classic Car Show at the mall’s luxury court introduced vintage old vehicles, attracting thousands of car lovers.
Salem al Mohannadi, Director of Mawater, said,”The aim of this event is to showcase the evolution these cars have undergone, and how the characteristics were admired by car enthusiasts in every era.”
He said the show gives an opportunity to showcase the heritage preserved by Qatari car owners and educate the public about the history of classic cars, while offering information about the manufacturing of these cars and time when they were introduced in this region.
The exhibition, which aims to encourage the youth to develop a taste for classic cars, includes a number of rare automobiles that have been carefully selected and are owned by Qatari classic car enthusiasts.
Examining a convertible mid-50s model car, Ayman Rebh, a visitor, said he was amused to be able to touch and even enter these vintage old models which he used to see only in movies.
“I felt as if I was going back in time; these cars are well preserved and look as if they were still new; it is just amazing,” gushed Ayman.
A line up of 12 classic cars at the show includes a Jaguar XK120 Roadster 1954 and an Oldsmobile Convertible 1959. The old beauties will be displayed at multiple locations throughout Mall of Qatar from the luxury court to AlRayyan Hotel Doha and visitors can take photos next to their favourite models.
